Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris

I recently finished up Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris, author of Me Talk Pretty One Day. Essentially it's a compilation of short stories about his dysfunctional family. I'm personally not a huge fan of books like this, I like to have a specific plot to my books, instead of a bunch of random, unconnected stories. Sedaris has a reputation for being pretty funny, and I suppose he's not terrible at comedy, but it's all pretty dark comedy. I've also read much funnier books in my day. I've heard a lot of hype about Sedaris previously, so I guess going in I had higher expectations than usual. Overall I gave the book a 3 out of 5. It was entertaining enough to get me to the end fairly quickly, and it pushed me out of my reading comfort zone which is never a bad thing. I suggest this book for short story aficionados, and of course Sedaris or Augusten Burroughs (Running With Scissors) fans.

This book was assigned as monthly reading for the GoodReads' book group The Next Best Book Club.

E-visit the House of Dreams No-Kill Kitty Shelter

I've been doing volunteer work at the House of Dreams for 4 years, and we recently moved the shelter to a brand new (nicer) location. So come find out more about the House of Dreams and take a look at some of the kitties!

NOTE: The shelter is no kill, meaning no kitty gets euthanized to make room for other cats. It is also a free-roam shelter, meaning the cats are allowed to move about the house as they please, but some kitties (mostly newcomers) are caged, and we have some kitties who are caged at night too due to diet restrictions. The next awesome thing about this shelter is that they don't discriminate against cats with special conditions. The only kind of felines they can't take are FIV+ (Feline HIV) kitties and that's simply because there is not enough room, and because we are the only shelter in the area who house FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus) and give them a place to go instead of being put down. My Evening Routine

Every night, usually right before bed (occasionally earlier if I'm in a hurry for my PJ's =)) this is the routine that I use. Over the last 3 years it's morphed quite a bit, and in an effort to simply my life this is what I have been using.

EVENING ROUTINE
1) Take evening medications, and set water bottle by the bed.
2) Feed Uzi her PM food (wet), and refill her water.
3) Brush teeth, also using mouthwash and flossing.
4) Take a shower, alternating shaving every other day.
5) Get into PJ's, and complete the PM skin care regimen.
6) Charge cell phone and set alarm for the morning.
7) A little bit of TV and then some rest =)

As you can see it's very basic, but it works for me! I used to have a much longer list, but on hard days, just looking at it would overwhelm me.
